If the automatic setup of your email account in Microsoft Outlook does not work, you can set up your account manually by following these instructions

Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook 2016 and click File on the menu.

Step 2

Under Account Information, click Add Account.

Step 3

Select Manual Configuration or Additional Server Types and click Next.

Step 4

Select POP or IMAP and click Next.

Step 5

Enter the user, server and logon information. Select the account type: IMAP or POP3.

To retrieve your email with POP3, select POP3 account type under Server Information. Enter pop.ionos.co.uk as the incoming mail server. See below for the IMAP settings.

USER INFORMATION

You can choose your name.

Email Address:  The full email address we provided in your welcome email.

SERVER INFORMATION

Account type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: imap.ionos.co.uk

Outgoing mail server: smtp.ionos.co.uk

CREDENTIALS

Username: Your email address

Password: The password in your welcome email

Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) required. Since this feature is not supported by our mail servers, please do not check this box.

Step 6

Click More Settings.

Step 7

Under Outgoing mail server, activate the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authenticationcheckbox. Select the menu item Use the same settings as for incoming mail servers. Click on OK.

Step 8

SSL settings for IMAP:

Now switch to the Advanced tab. Select the data for the incoming and outgoing mail servers.

SSL for POP settings:

Switch to the Advanced tab. Check the box Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Then select the incoming and outgoing mail server.

Incoming mail server (POP3): 995. Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): 587. TLS

Step 9

Click Next > Finish.

You have completed setting up your email account in Microsoft Outlook.
